When beachfront property is up for grabs in Colorado Springs, the phone is bound to ring.

Colorado Springs City Councilman Tim Leigh, a commercial real estate broker who is leading an effort to reopen the city-owned beach house at Prospect Lake, said Tuesday that he has received several “solid leads” since he advertised that it was available for lease.

City officials say they’re open to ideas and that free rent could be part of the deal.

The city boarded up the Eni R. Jaspersen Beach House last summer because of budget cuts.

At the same time, the city fenced off the popular man-made beach, although the fence hasn’t deterred some swimmers.
