DENVER—Denver prosecutors charged a 22-year-old man suspected in the shooting death of a soldier from Illinois who was stationed at Fort Carson.
The Denver District Attorney’s office said Wednesday that that Ricky Scott is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Sgt. Anthony Silva. The 25-year-old was shot July 23 near a Denver motel where he was staying. He was about to be discharged from the Army and was waiting to meet his father so they could drive back to his hometown of Columbia, Ill.
Police arrested Scott on Aug. 26. He is being held without bail and is expected in court Thursday to be advised of the charge against him.
