While Aurora Public Schools was holding a grand opening last week for its cutting-edge Vista Peak P-12 Campus, Lennar Homes reps were looking out from their 4-bedroom ‘Lincoln’ model on the last 24 sites that will ever be offered in master-planned Cross Creek – a block from the school. For the past two years, Lennar has provided a route to family-sized homes with 3-car garages here, at prices from $259,900 – way below what builders were doing in this area a few years back.
“You can still save around $30,000 here over what this size of home costs a few miles south around Southlands, and that’s not counting the 3-car garage, the landscaping and other features,” says Matt Cassidy, who’ll be on hand today with Audrey Aylor to show you around. The new ‘concept’ school a short walk from the model (the k-thru-8th grade ‘Exploratory’ campus opened last year) is designed to offer a comprehensive approach to college and career preparation – and is already drawing byers to Lennar’s models – not just from Aurora and Denver, but from Douglas County and Thornton, too.
“People are saying great things about it,” says Cassidy, adding that the school’s ‘Bison’ JV football team has been out doing its first practices. Meanwhile, adds Aylor, Cross Creek is the way to get Lennar’s popular ‘Everything’s Included’ program – not just the 3-car garage, but front and backyard landscaping with fence, full basement, air conditioning, fireplace, detailed kitchen cabinets, along with a fridge, washer-dryer, even window shades, all at the standard price.
Of course, you’ll also see Lennar’s Energy Star design – something Aylor says buyers are sensitive to now. “They’re telling us that every penny counts,” says Aylor, adding that Lennar uses an independent contractor to verify energy performance in each home built. One homeowner, she adds, saw a mid-summer bill of $34, during air conditioning season.
You’ll find the 3-car garage and other “Everything’s Included” features on a “Jefferson” family-sized two story you can tour today, ready for move in this month. It has 1,849 square feet with three bedrooms up, plus a main-floor study that would work as a fourth bedroom. The price is $266,000.
