TV on the Radio has had an interesting year, to say the least. The genre-bending band from Brooklyn released its critically acclaimed fourth album, “Nine Types of Light,” barely a week before bassist Gerard Smith succumbed to lung cancer. High-profile shows and festival apperances followed, though what would have been a banner year for the band was permanently tinged by Smith’s passing. It will return to the Ogden Theatre this week for two shows with Canadian collective Broken Social Scene. Tickets for Tuesday and Wednesday night, $35-$40, are available through Ticketmaster.

Gardens & Villaplays a mix of indie rock, orchestral pop and electro rock that vaguely resembles heavy hitters like Arcade Fire, and it’ll pack that complex sound into the tiny Hi-Dive Sunday night. Tickets for the show, presented by Reverb, are available through for $10 .
