GOLDEN — When Shannon Wilhite watched the wreckage and the aftermath of the air-show tragedy in Reno, she sat horrified in her home in Golden. She had no idea that her brother-in-law, John Craik, would be among the dead.
“He was one that was taken to the hospital in critical condition and died in the hospital,” Wilhite said Sunday. “He will be missed, and I just can’t imagine the damage to his children, let alone my sister.”
Wilhite said Craik lives about 45 minutes from Reno. He took his son Ethan and two of Ethan’s friends to the air race. All three children escaped the wreckage relatively unharmed. Wilhite believes that was because of the actions of her brother-in-law.
