A driver flashed a handgun at another driver Sunday during a traffic altercation in Lyons.

The incident happened at about 5:30 p.m. at a traffic light at Ute Highway and North Foothills Highway, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.

The victim told investigators he was in a traffic “altercation” with another driver, he got out of his car and approached the other vehicle when the driver brandished a handgun and “racked” the slide.

Both vehicles continued east on Ute Highway and the victim called 911. The victim followed the suspect for a short time, until the suspect vehicle turned south onto North 63rd Street.

The sheriff’s office described the suspect as a white man, about 40, with short, bushy dark hair. He was wearing a dark-colored polo shirt and he had a woman passenger in the car. The suspect vehicle is described as a white late-model Subaru Legacy, or Ford sedan.

Anyone with information on the incident, or on a possible suspect, is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 303-441-3650.
