Saturday night in LoDo saw the standard mob of club-goers, and Maloney’s Tavern on Market St. was stuffed to capacity. Whatever the scene at Maloney’s is like during the day, on Saturday night the pool tables served as bar stools and coasters, and the aisles transformed into makeshift dance floors. The eclectic selection of music seemed to suggest, “We’re laid-back, so leave all pretenses at the door, and we’ll play anything we want in this joint,” which periodically resulted in boisterous, drunken sing-alongs. Maloney’s offered a cool alternative to the hoity-toity lounge scene, with everyone seeming to be on the same page of having a great time with good friends and plenty of drinks to go around.
