Mountain View Fire Rescue set a Weld County house on fire Tuesday morning as part of a training exercise.
The house, which was ignited about 8 a.m., burned to the ground in less than an hour.
Mountain View deputy chief Steven Pischke said the old structure, on property owned by the L.G. Everist Inc. gravel mine, had been used for fire training since July.
“We don’t get a lot of opportunity to do things like this except when it really happens, and that’s not the time to train,” Pischke said.
