COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—A Hooters waitress in Colorado Springs has been cleared of criminal wrongdoing after her lawyer raised questions about police detectives who investigated the case of an alleged liquor violation.
Colorado Springs Police insisted that the officers did nothing wrong June 23 when they accused waitress Illysa Medina of serving a visibly intoxicated patron. A surveillance tape of the incident cast doubt on the detectives’ assertions.
The (Colorado Springs) Gazette reports ( ) that the waitress’ lawyer is calling for an investigation into the officers’ conduct. Liquor-code violations for the restaurant were dismissed last week.
