CHEYENNE, Wyo.—The Bureau of Land Management plans four open house meetings in Wyoming on the proposed Gateway West Transmission Line in Wyoming and Idaho.
The BLM said Thursday the meetings will be held Oct. 3 in Kemmerer, Oct. 4 in Rock Springs, Oct. 5 in Rawlins and Oct. 6 in Douglas. The public has until Oct. 28 to submit comments on a draft environmental impact statement prepared by the agency.
Idaho Power and Rocky Mountain Power propose building nearly 1,100 miles of high voltage transmission lines across southern Wyoming and southern Idaho. The companies are seeking right of way grants from a proposed substation near Glenrock, Wyo., to a substation to be built near Melba, Idaho.
Planners say the project would add 3,000 megawatts of transmission capacity.
