Westminster police said Thursday afternoon they had found the unmarked Boulder County sheriff’s vehicle that was stolen in the city that morning, but there is no sign of the assault rifle, ammunition or bullet- proof vest that were in the car.
The 2005 Ford Taurus was taken during the night from the apartment complex where a detective lives in the 3800 block of West 68th Avenue. The vehicle turned up abandoned Thursday afternoon about a mile away in the 7100 block of Stuart Street. Still missing are a semiautomatic AR-15 rifle, a 30-round magazine and a bullet-proof vest.
Westminster police said the deputy noticed his keys were missing when he woke up Thursday morning, and when he went outside, his vehicle was gone too.
