Brooklyn Gardener, 11, says he should not have to dread school. He does now.
The 7th-grader at Isaac Newton Middle School in Littleton says another student is bullying him, and he blames that boy for the bandage on his right arm.
Brooklyn says the second-degree burn under the bandage happened in shop class when students were using industrial glue guns.
“He picks up the hot glue gun and sprays it on my arm and then uses the nozzle to spread it around,” he said.
Scott Gardener, Brooklyn’s dad, says the punishment for the student wasn’t strong enough.
Littleton Public School’s policy says that a student who uses any object as a weapon and intends to hurt someone will go through expulsion proceedings immediately. Diane Lieker is the spokesperson for the district, and she says that the question of intent is an important one.
