The University of Colorado at Boulder was one of six regional winners to receive $360,000 over three years from the Department of Energy. The money would be used to create and administer a network of student-focused business-creation competitions and inspire young entrepreneurs to found innovative, clean-energy companies. The initiative is part of the Obama administration’s Startup America campaign to promote entrepreneurship.
The competition supports CU’s Cleantech New Venture Challenge, an annual student-based clean-tech competition that helps develop partnerships between regional entrepreneurs and innovators with universities, national labs and other organizations.
