David Heydenburg shot his daughter in the head and chest before killing himself with a shot to the head, the Boulder County Coroner’s Office ruled Wednesday in wrapping up its investigation into the father’s and daughter’s deaths Aug. 7.
Investigators had expressed no doubt that Heydenburg killed himself and his 3-year-old daughter, Allyson Heydenburg, in their Longmont home.
They were found in the home’s master bedroom with a note nearby. His marriage had crumbled, and his financial problems were laid out in court records.
