
A nationwide search is under way for Saul Barajas-Apolinar of Carbondale, who is suspected of sexual assault and child abuse in Garfield County.
Barajas-Apolinar, 24, sometimes goes by the name Oscar Garcia, the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department said.
While details of the cause weren’t released, Barajas-Apolinar is wanted on a warrant alleging sexual assault on a child, sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust and child abuse.
“It’s believed that he may be trying to leave the country to evade arrest,” the Sheriff’s Department said in a bulletin this afternoon.
“Investigators want Barajas-Apolinar in custody to prevent any further victimization.”Court records show Barajas-Apolinar pleaded guilty to assault and criminal mischief in 2008 in Garfield County. He was sentenced to 60 days in jail and two years of probation.
He is described as 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 160 pounds with a slender build. He has brown eyes and black hair.
