Consider it a sneak preview of the 2012 Rockies bullpen. In a season-ending win, Rex Brothers struck out the side in the eighth and Rafael Betancourt posted his eighth save. Betancourt, under strong consideration to close next season, held opponents to eight hits over the final 92 at-bats against him.
Third and short.
While he might not figure into the third-base situation next year, Kevin Kouzmanoff finished the season with a flourish. The former Evergreen High School product went 11-for-32 on the trip with three home runs and nine RBIs.
Pat the Bat.
The Giants’ Pat Burrell received a lengthy ovation in his first at-bat and when he left the game. Making his first start in 21 games, Burrell recorded a base hit. He’s not expected to return next season.
