Andrew Wade, a 26-year-old Denver native and George Washington High School graduate, was one of three Americans killed in a plane crash near Katmandu, Nepal, on Sunday.

The Beechcraft 1900D aircraft, operated by Buddha Air, was carrying 19 tourists back from a sightseeing venture to Mount Everest when it crashed in rain and dense fog 10 miles short of its destination.

Intial reports from The Associated Press said that only two Americans perished, but Don Wade, Andrew’s father, said that number didn’t account for one naturalized citizen on board. Wade had just completed his master’s degree at Simon Fraser University in Surrey, British Columbia, in visual analytics. He was in India collaborating on a project conducted by Simon Fraser, Boeing Co. and a Delhi-based software company at the time of his death, his father said.

His memorial service in Vancouver, where Wade completed his undergraduate work, will be Oct. 8. A Denver memorial service is planned for late October, his father said. Weston Gentry, The Denver Post
