Denver temperatures are spiking towards a 119-year record today, but are expected to fall a bit short.

Bob Koopmeiners, meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Boulder, said Denver temperatures are expected to reach 87.

“That’s a good 15 degrees warmer than normal for this time of the year,” Koopmeiners said.

The record for any day in October was set on Oct. 1, 1892 at 90 degrees, he said. He was predicting that temperatures wouldn’t surpass the record this weekend.
