Getting your player ready...

FORT COLLINS — Wednesday was back-to-work day for the Colorado State Rams, who have a bye this week before playing Boise State on Oct. 15 at Hughes Stadium.

“It’s nice to come out and practice,” said coach Steve Fairchild, whose team is 3-2.

Fairchild said player development will be the main objective this week, with some X’s and O’s sprinkled in. CSU also practices today and Friday, leading up to Boise State week.

“We’re looking at a few things scheme-wise,” Fairchild said. “We’re more looking at personnel. The two (freshman offensive) tackles, (Ty) Sambrailo and (Mason) Hathaway, they need a lot of work because they are going to play. Maybe develop a backup fullback, maybe a fourth/fifth linebacker-type thing.”

Fairchild was pleased with the Rams’ demeanor in their first practice after a 38-31 loss to San Jose State last weekend.

“Looks like our attitude is good,” he said.
