Three people are in jail and a fourth suspect remains at large today in the theft of a puppy from a pet store.

Lone Tree Police said the three suspects face charges ranging from conspiracy to theft by receiving after playing a part in the theft of 9-week-old pug from the Just Pets at Maximus Drive and Yosemite on Monday night.

Brittany Cooper, age 18, who police identified as the person who ran out of the store on Monday with the $1,200 dog, remains at large.

The three suspects in custody are Alexandra Kennel,18; Tyler Ryan Mayden, 18; and Trevor Roarke Power,19.

The pup was returned to the store about 8:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Lisa Stone, the Just Pets employee on duty at the time of the incident, said a woman later identified as Cooper visited the store on Monday. She left, but returned to the store at about 5 p.m. She asked to play with the dog again and took her into the play area at the front of the store.

While she was with the dog, Stone says, an accomplice of Cooper’s distracted her by asking for help in the back of the store with kittens.

“She kept playing with her and telling me how much she loved her,” Stone said. “When I had my back turned, she bolted.”

If you have any information related to the theft or the whereabouts of Cooper, please contact Detective Wagner at 720-509-1177.
