Denver police are looking for a police impersonator, accused of sexual assault.

In a Crime Stopper alert issued today, police said a woman was waiting for a bus near West 32nd Avenue and Federal Boulevard on Sept. 28. As she was waiting, a dark blue Mercedes sedan with tinted windows pulled up. The male driver rolled down the passenger window and told the woman he was a police officer and ordered her to get in the car.

The woman told police the man made a motion as if to produce a weapon, but she did not see a gun.

The woman said she was taken to an isolated area near 45th Avenue and North Irving Street and sexual assaulted. The victim was able to get away and call police.

The suspect is described as a white male, about 35 years old, 5 feet, 11 inches tall with light-colored eyes and weighing about 190 pounds. He had balding or short hair and wore a baseball cap, dark-colored button-up shirt and dark pants. Anyone with information should call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 720-913-STOP (7867). There could be a $2,000 reward.
