MONTROSE, Colo.—Bowie Resources LLC Is looking to expand its existing federal coal leases north of Paonia in Delta County.
The Bureau of Land Management is seeking public input on the company’s proposal. The agency says the company wants to add about 505 acres to its leases, which could allow it to expand its coal mine.
The bureau manages part of the land the company is seeking and the mineral resources under it.
If approved, the BLM says it would offer Bowie the lease modifications for fair market value.
Written comments on the company’s proposal must be submitted to the BLM no later than Nov. 7.
