DURANGO, Colo.—The interim director of coaching for the Fort Lewis College cycling team says he will resign at the end of the month to pursue other professional interests.
Athletics Director Gary Hunter said Friday that Chris McGovern will leave the job after the USA Cycling mountain biking championships Oct. 29-30.
McGovern was hired in January as men’s road coach and coordinator of the road cycling team for the spring season. He became interim director of coaching in March.
The Skyhawks finished the 2010-11 season with the overall No. 1 ranking in the nation with a combination of team finishes in track, mountain biking, cyclocross and road championships. They have won 17 USA Cycling national championships in the mountain biking, cyclocross and road disciplines.
