COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—El Paso County prosecutors dropped charges against a former Colorado Springs Utilities worker accused of stealing equipment.

Prosecutors told a judge Thursday they did not have enough evidence against 41-year-old William Mohrenweiser and moved to dismiss theft charges. The Colorado Springs Gazette reports ( ) that Mohrenweiser passed a polygraph test where he maintained his innocence.

He was one of three men accused of stealing from a utilities storage facility. One man pleaded guilty under a deal with prosecutors and received a four-year deferred sentence and another man is scheduled for trial next month.

The men were employed to maintain a pipeline used in the city’s natural gas distribution system.
