UP Aerospace Inc., a commercial space launch services company based in Highlands Ranch, has been awarded two separate contracts for up to nine launches on its SpaceLoft rocket from Spaceport America in Las Cruces, N.M.
Up to eight launches will involve technology demonstration payloads through a contract with NASA’s launch opportunities program. The contract reserves two launches with options on buying up to six more in 2012 and 2013. The first NASA launch is in the planning stage, but is expected in the first quarter of 2012. The second contract was issued by the Department of Defense for a suborbital flight, and also is planned for the first quarter of 2012.
