A short standoff ended peacefully overnight when a man surrendered to Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies.
The sheriff’s office said the man came out of a residence when the towed his vehicle. He was questioned at headquarters and released pending further investigation.
Morrison police had surround an Indian Hills home late Saturday after a driver who struck a police car fled into the residence.
A Morrison police officer pulled the male driver over on U.S. 285 for suspected speeding around 7:40 p.m. today, when the man fled. The officer gave chase until the man pulled into a private drive off Parmalee Gulch Road. The man turned his vehicle around in the driveway and drove toward the officers.
“One of the officers had to dive out of the way to avoid being hit,” said Morrison Police Sgt. Robert Payne .
Payne said the man then fled to the home on Ute Road, just off Parmalee Gulch Road. At 11:30 p.m., officers were still surrounding the home.
Payne said police believed the man was the only person in the home.
“Right now we are setting up a game plan,” Payne said.
