A federal judge in New York City today sentenced former energy company director H. Clayton Peterson to two years probation for sharing details of a pending merger with his son and pressuring him to trade on the tip.

The first three months of the probation term are to be served in home confinement, according to Peterson’s attorneys.

The former managing partner of Arthur Andersen’s Denver office faced 12 to 18 months in prison as part of a plea agreement, but a probation officer had recommended the probation term and home confinement.
