Richard MacNeill, 47, better known as the “Band Aid Bandit,” was convicted today in Arapahoe County District Court on 29 counts ranging from theft to aggravated robbery.

Investigators gave MacNeill the unique moniker before his arrest because he frequently used band aids on his face and over tattoos on his hand in an attempt to conceal his identity during a crime spree that lasted from October 2009 until he was arrested by Aurora Police officers Feb. 11, 2010.

The jury delivered the verdict after six hours of deliberation in a trial that lasted a week according to the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s office.

MacNeill was found guilty on nine counts of aggravated robbery with a real or simulated deadly weapon, one count of attempted aggravated robbery with a real or simulated deadly weapon, one count of robbery, nine counts of menacing, eight counts of theft and one count of attempted theft.

He robbed businesses and banks throughout the city of Aurora including: Payless Shoes, Papa Murphy’s Pizza, Barnes and Noble, Bank of the West, Sally’s Beauty Supply, M.D. Scrubs, Papillion Ladies Fashion, Toys R’ Us and TCF Bank.
