An assistant football coach at a Denver charter school was fired Tuesday after he allegedly made online sexual advances toward a female student.

The coach, whose name has not been released, was fired from KIPP Sunshine Academy, after he allegedly posted comments on the students’s Facebook page, said Rebecca Holmes, executive director of the school.

The coach is a part-time employee at the school, and he passed a criminal background check before he was hired three months ago, Holmes said.

Charter school staff are not Denver Public School employees.

The charter school is currently in the process of evaluating its polices on social media, Holmes said.
