A police dog took a bite out of crime Tuesday in Colorado Springs.
Police, tipped off by a bail bondsman, were sent at about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday to the 4300 block of Hunting Meadows Circle to look for a fugitive on an outstanding warrant, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department crime blotter.
Officers were told the man was hiding inside. They surrounded a residence and gave numerous commands for him to come out.
When that didn’t work, Officer Troy Bauer unleashed his dog, Rico, who went in search of the suspect.
Rico sniffed out the man, bit him and held on until officers were able to take him into custody.
Officers identified the man as Shawn Joseph Bell.
Police did not say why Bell was wanted.
