Goodbye, Angels. Until the next reboot.
ABC today cancelled “Charlie’s Angels,” one of its most hyped fall series, acknowledging the hour has failed to gain traction against heavy Thursday night competition.
The remake of the iconic action-babes series, this time starring Minka Kelly, Rachael Taylor and Annie Ilonzeh, was soundly trashed by critics and mostly ignored by viewers. The show declined in the ratings weekly after posting 8.7 million viewers for its premiere.
ABC hasn’t announced what will take “Charlie’s” place on the schedule, but another “Charlie” is due Oct. 27: “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.”
