FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — New York Jets coach Rex Ryan encourages Miami Dolphins receiver Brandon Marshall to carry out the “Marshall Plan.”
“If he wants to get kicked out of the game in the second quarter, I think he should,” Ryan said Friday.
Marshall, upset about the Dolphins’ 0-4 start, said he hasn’t been playing with enough passion, which is why he planned to play “like a monster” and get kicked out in the second quarter of Monday night’s game against the Jets.
Marshall even threatened to fight linebacker Bart Scott and cornerback Antonio Cromartie.
“I might get in a fight with Bart Scott. (Antonio) Cromartie, we pretty much matured our relationship and grew a little bit,” Marshall said. “We used to fight in Denver and San Diego. If that happens, it happens, so we’ll see.”
Asked about Marshall’s comments Friday, Cromartie said he “doesn’t really care.”
“This is my 11th time facing Brandon,” Cromartie said, “so we’ve got a lot of history together. For a guy to come out and fight, they better be trying to win game one rather than coming out to try to fight.”
Ryan wanted no part of Marshall, saying, “I’m just happy that he’s not picking on me to fight him.”
