CONCORD, N.H. — A sick New Hampshire woman who’s been working on the South Pole for a year was preparing Sunday to board a plane on the first leg of her trip to New Zealand.

Renee-Nicole Douceur reported in an e-mail Sunday afternoon that she was about to leave for the National Science Foundation’s station in Antarctica. A storm delayed a flight attempt Saturday.
