FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A Larimer County sheriff’s patrol vehicle has collided with an SUV in Fort Collins, resulting in minor to moderate injuries to a deputy and three civilians.
Fort Collins police said the accident occurred late Monday when sheriff’s Cpl. Travis Matkin saw a traffic violation, switched on his emergency lights and turned left into the path of the SUV. Police say the SUV had a green traffic light and Matkin was in a left-turn lane with a red traffic light.
The deputy and the three civilians were treated for minor to moderate injuries at Poudre (POO’-dur) Valley Hospital and released.
Fort Collins police are investigating the collision and the Larimer County Sheriff’s Department is reviewing the deputy’s actions.
