One person died and five people were sent to local hospitals for injuries suffered last night in a two-car crash in Aurora, police said.

The crash happened at about 9 p.m. on Chambers Road near I-70, Lt. Chuck DeShazer said in a media release.

Six people, initially treated on scene by responding firefighters, were taken to local hospitals where one victim died, DeShazer said.

A green Mitsubishi 300 was northbound on Chambers when a black Audi heading southbound attempted a turn on to the eastbound I-70 ramp, police said. The Mitsubishi hit the passenger door of the Audi.

A police investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.

The name of the victim who died was not released.

Chambers Road was closed for about four hours by the incident.
