Falcons’ Gonzalez quite a catch

Tony Gonzalez: He moved up to second on the NFL’s career receptions list. The Atlanta tight end, left, caught four passes in the first half Sunday against the Detroit Lions and five for the game, leapfrogging Cris Carter and Marvin Harrison to take over second place. Gonzalez’s 2-yard catch from Matt Ryan late in the first half gave him 1,103 — one more than Harrison and two more than Carter. Jerry Rice is No. 1 at 1,549. “Trust me, Jerry Rice will never be caught,” the 35-year-old Gonzalez said. “I’m very happy with second place.”

Cam Newton: Carolina’s quarterback ran for his seventh touchdown Sunday, tying a record for most rushing scores by a rookie quarterback since the 1970 NFL-AFL merger. Vince Young set the mark with Tennessee in 2006.

LaDainian Tomlinson: Became the fourth running back in NFL history with 600 catches before leaving in the fourth quarter with the flu. He joined Larry Centers (827), Marshall Faulk (767) and Keith Byars (610).
