COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—An Army Ranger who died after insurgents attacked his unit in Afghanistan was the son of an Army veteran who also had served in Afghanistan.

Twenty-year-old Pfc. Christopher Horns of Colorado Springs and two other soldiers were killed in the attack Saturday in Kandahar province. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state.
