Colorado’s first and much-anticipated H&M clothing store will open at noon Nov. 10 in the former Niketown space at the Denver Pavilions on the 16th Street Mall.
The Sweden-based company, Hennes & Mauirtz AB, made the date announcement Monday, saying the new store’s staff is ready for the onslaught of shoppers who have long awaited the store’s opening.
“We continue to be devoted to expanding our stores in the best new locations throughout the United States,” Daniel Kulle, U.S. president for H&M, said in a statement. “H&M has greatly anticipated its expansion into Denver.”
H&M also has announced it will open a second Colorado location in the Cherry Creek Shopping Center sometime in the spring. It’s not known exactly where the fashion-forward value-oriented store will be located in Cherry Creek mall, but general manager Nick LeMasters has said it will not occupy any of the anchor space vacated by Saks Fifth Avenue.
H&M’s first metro-area location could see lines swell well before the noon opening due to what Denver retail experts call “anticipated demand.”
H&M does not have an online ordering system, so shoppers need to visit brick-and-mortar stores to buy men’s, women’s and children’s clothing that’s known as cheap chic.
To celebrate opening day, the first 500 shoppers will receive an H&M T-shirt, and one person will win an early-access pass to be the first person in the door.
The chain was founded in 1947 and operates roughly 2,300 stores in 40 markets worldwide.
Store hours for the new location will be 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Famous folks flock south.
Romano’s Italian Restaurant in Highlands Ranch has become somewhat of a hot spot for Hollywood types who travel to that part of town for movie-debut appearances at the AMC Highlands Ranch.
Last week, funny man Kevin James dined on eggplant at Romano’s during the promoting tour of his new movie, “Here Comes the Boom.”
Earlier this year, actor Benjamin Bratt was seen at Romano’s after promoting a movie at AMC.
Meanwhile, Del Frisco’s in Greenwood Village remains the favored steak escape for politicos and pro sports players.
