A Jefferson County-based company that wants to mine uranium in southern Wyoming says it has won approval from state regulators.
Ur-Energy said Monday that the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality has issued a mining permit for its Lost Cabin uranium site in Sweetwater County. It is located in the Great Divide Basin about 40 miles northwest of Rawlins.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has licensed the project, but the company still needs approval from the Bureau of Land Management before it can start mining.
