DENVER—Gov. John Hickenlooper is making major changes to the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade.

The Denver Post ( ) says Hickenlooper has dismissed six staffers and plans to hire 18 others as part of his plan to give local communities a bigger role in developing their own plans.

Business leaders say the office has been sidetracked by programs mandated by state legislators.
