New car and light-truck registrations in Colorado have risen 13.7 percent this year, the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association said today.
Registrations were up 7.8 percent in September compared to the same month last year, CADA said as it released results from its September 2011 Colorado Auto Outlook Report.
Colorado sales growth was slightly below the national year-to-date rate of 16 percent, CADA said.
The Colorado used vehicle market (vehicles seven years old or newer) declined 5.5 percent in September year-over-year and was off 5 percent year-to-date.
CADA said 94,954 new vehicles were registered in Colorado through September 2011 versus 83,503 new vehicles registered in the same period in 2010.
“New vehicle registrations in Colorado continue in 2011 on a very steady and positive pace which indicates a strong interest among consumers for newer, higher-quality and more fuel-efficient cars,” Tim Jackson, president of CADA, said. “Even as the overall economy is not as strong as anyone would like, consumers are revving up the automotive sector and are demonstrating large, pent-up demand as they continue to replace their older vehicles.”
