ASPEN, Colo.—Aspen’s winter festival is looking for a new slogan after the Aspen Chamber Resort Association decided to drop its 2012 “To Die For” slogan because of complaints.

The annual Wintersköl festival held each January includes fireworks over Aspen Mountain and a snow-carving competition. The resort association chose “To Die For” in a contest to name the 2012 festival. The Aspen Daily News reports ( ) that after the slogan was announced, several complained that the slogan was in bad taste.

Some also complained about the theme of next year’s festival, “End of the World,” playing off suggestions the world will end in 2012.

The Wintersköl committee met and voted Thursday to nix both the slogan and the apocalyptic theme. The re-launched contest runs through Nov. 4.
