A man who was pulled from a burning car by Arapahoe County Sheriff’s deputies died over the weekend.

Dominic DeCicco, 59, of Centennial, died at about 2:05 a.m. Sunday at the University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, according to the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office.

At about 5:20 a.m. Thursday a car driven by DeCicco crashed into a detached garage in the 6400 block of South Dayton Street.

The car, a Chevrolet Caprice, was wedged into the garage and a rear wheel continued to spin in place. The spinning tire wore down to the rim and sparked a fire.

The coroner’s office did not release an official cause of death, pending a complete review of the case.

The two deputies who pulled the victim from the car went to a local hospital to be checked for smoke inhalation. They were treated and released.

There were no other injuries.
