The weather pattern in Denver this month will be significantly different from October.
Dry and mild conditions will be replaced with wetter and cooler days as the transition to winter begins. Deep troughs of low pressure will move over the Rockies, with strong storm systems developing. Powerful cold fronts associated with these types of systems will bring much cooler temperatures to the Denver-metro area. As a result, many of these storm systems will produce snow.
November is the second-snowiest month of the year in Denver, with March being the first. On average, 8.7 inches of snow falls this month. The November record for snowfall was 42.6 inches set in 1946. More recently, 29.6 inches of snow fell during November 1991.
Below-average snowfall was recorded during November 2010, with only 1.5 inches of snow at Denver International Airport, all of it falling on Nov. 15. Trace amounts of snow were reported on seven days last November, however.
The Climate Prediction Center is forecasting near-normal temperatures and precipitation for the Denver area this month.
