Adams County commissioners said today they are accepting applications from residents who are interested in being appointed RTD director for the transit agency’s District K, which takes up a large portion of the county.
Last month, the Regional Transportation District’s incumbent District K director, Ken Riley, resigned from the position, citing “significant family medical issues.”
At that time, The Denver Post reported that Riley was the subject of a criminal investigation relating to his earlier campaign for the RTD post. Riley was elected a year ago to the position.
Adams commissioners will appoint Riley’s successor, who will hold the post until the November 2012 general election, when voters will select a District K board member. Those interested in being appointed can get an application at by clicking A-Z Services, then Job Openings, then Volunteer/Board Opportunities.
Applications must be submitted by Nov. 16 and commissioners will select a director on or before Dec. 14, county officials said.
