Few groups in classical music have virtually instant name recognition everywhere they go, but one of them is certainly the ever-popular Vienna Boys Choir.

The venerable institution traces its history to 1498 and the court of Emperor Maximilian I, but it was not until after the fall of the Hapsburg Empire in 1918 that the choir acquired its current name and began performing outside the imperial chapel.

Today, about 100 choristers ages 10 to 14 are divided into four touring groups. They give a total of about 300 concerts a year before some half-million listeners.

One of the choirs will make five stops along the Front Range beginning Wednesday. The schedule will be:

– 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Lincoln Center, 417 W. Magnolia St., Fort Collins. $24-$36. 970-416-2765 or

– 7 p.m. Thursday, Union Colony Civic Center, 701 10th Ave., Greeley. $18-$45. 970-356-5000 or

–  7:30 p.m. Nov. 11, Parker Arts, Culture and Events Center, 20000 Pikes Peak Ave. Sold out. 303-805-6800 or

–  7:30 p.m. Nov. 12, Cheyenne Civic Center, 2101 O’Neil Ave. $30-$53. 307-637-6363 or

– 4 p.m. Nov. 14, Macky Auditorium, University of Colorado at Boulder Artist Series. Sold out. 303-492-8008 or
