Police are looking for a man suspected of trying to lure two children, on two separate occasions, into his vehicle.

At 7:30 a.m. on Oct. 17, a 13-year-old girl was walking to school in the 7100 block of Birch Street in Commerce City, when a faded purple and gray passenger van pulled up to her, according to a news release from the Commerce City Police Department.

The van may have been a 1999 Dodge Caravan.

The man driving the van asked the girl if she wanted a ride. When the girl said no, the man calmly told her to get in the vehicle.

She then ran to her school and the van was last seen driving north on Birch Street.

The suspect, who the girl said spoke in Spanish accent, was wearing a gray shirt.

Commerce City police sent a composite sketch of the suspect to law enforcement agencies across the metro area.

On Oct. 20, the Northglenn Police Department reported a similar incident with a suspect matching the description of the man in Commerce City.

At 3:20 p.m., a 10-year-old boy was walking home from school in the 10700 block of Claire Lane, when a man driving a small, black, two-door car pulled up next to him.

The man, who was reportedly wearing a gray beanie hat, a green tank top and black pants, opened the car door and asked the boy to get in. The boy became scared and ran home.

The suspect is described as being in his 20s or 30s, with an average to thin build and dark hair.

Anyone with information about the case or the suspect is asked to call Commerce City Detective Aran Conroy at 303-289-3752 or Northglenn Detective Cindi Grein at 303-450-8856.
