Arvada police say 60-year-old William P. Krause of Denver was killed when he walked into a moving Union Pacific train on Sunday.
The locomotive had already passed Krause as he walked alongside the tracks in Arvada when he turned into the train’s path and was killed, police said.
“I don’t think we can really say definitively what happened, we are in the process of interviewing witnesses,” Arvada police spokeswoman Susan Medina, said Sunday.
Krause was struck just before 10 a.m. near 76th and Simms Street in Arvada, police said.
Police are investigating the cause of the incident.
