Gen. Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar, who has joined the uprising, said in an e-mailed statement that the regime of President Ali Abdullah Saleh is plotting to assassinate him.
The commander of the First Armored Division said there was a plot to kill defecting military leaders during Eid al-Adha prayers, scheduled for Sunday morning at division headquarters. No government official could be reached to comment.
