A case that first looked like a hit-and-run outside a 7-Eleven in Greeley early Sunday is being called a murder.

Greeley police said four people were run down by a car outside the store in the 100 block of East 18th Street, soon after they had been involved in an altercation at the Alas Blancas Bar a block away. One of the four died, and a fifth person was able to dive out of the way of the car just in time.

The alleged driver, Joel Chairez Jr., 25, of Greeley, is still at large. He is wanted on one count of first-degree murder and four counts of attempted first-degree murder.

Anyone with information on Chairez’s location can call police at 970-350-9600.
